Dracenas are very picturesque. According to various sources, there are about forty to three hundred species and forms of Dracaena. At a young age, their stems are not particularly branched and are densely covered with sessile, lanceolate or broad, leathery leaves – sometimes just green, sometimes mottled as well as with white, pink or yellow longitudinal stripes of varying widths. Over time, the trunk of the dracaena becomes bare and woody, giving the plant a stately appearance. Some plants have leaves that form a bunch at the top of the stem, which makes them look like a real palm tree; other plants have a spiral or whorled arrangement of leaves on the stem.
